Jobs for Indigos

One of the biggest challenges Indigos face is the inability to find success in the "normal" 9-5 rat race. Why? Why does it seem like everyone else can just suck it up and suffer through? Why would we rather leave the planet than work at a soul crushing unfulfilling job.

There are many reasons why Indigos hate working and many normal jobs make Indigos physically sick

We are purpose driven. We'd be more than happy to spend all day doing something that matters and is fulfilling. We're here to make a difference. Indigos need a job that we choose to do, not have to do. Do what you like to do because you like doing it.

So, what are the best jobs for Indigos? That depends. Use your strongest attributes as a guide.

LEADERS

Indigos are bold and unusually confident.

Indigos resistance to authority makes it nearly impossible to work for someone else. We need an enormous amount of freedom. We will resent and resist any attempt to control us in any way. Therefore, we need to create our own job where we call the shots.

Indigos have a vision. We ache to carry them out and are smart enough to figure out how if given the time and resources. We are innovators, pioneers, and trail blazers. We excel at taking unconventional routes. We were designed for this. We will always find a way.

We are the ultimate entrepreneurs.

We are not immune to the occasional bouts of self-doubt, fear, and overwhelm. It's not easy putting yourself out there. It's really hard when others don't support you. Being on the leading edge can be a lonely road. But if not us, than who? We need you and it's time to get going. The reason you can't find a job you can stand is because it doesn't exist yet. It's up to you to create it.

Ready, Set, Go!

REVOLUTIONARIES

We desperately want the world to be a better place. We know it can be. It just takes action.

Nothing spurs an Indigo into action quite like injustice. We are activists. We simply cannot just sit around and wait for someone else to come around and make things right.

We feel a sense of duty and urgency to protect those that need protecting and fight for those that don't have a voice. Indigos love a good cause and want to be part of the solution. Start a movement! You have the power to make a difference. It's never been easier. We see it regularly. We're just one hashtag away from political, social, and cultural change.

Working for a nonprofit organization, running for office, or a conscious corporation that gives back would be an ideal job for an Indigo. We want to be a part of something that makes a difference otherwise what's the point? We would rather live on the streets than help line the pockets of some miserable asshole.

Examples:

  • If you are unsatisfied with the current system, Amanda Litman wants you to change it yourself—and she's there to help you do it with her organization Run for Something;
  • Shannon Watts is the founder of Mom's Demand Action for Gun Sense in America;
  • Black Lives Matter reignited the Civil Right Movement;
  • The students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School of Parkland Florida formed the March for Our Lives Organization to advocate against gun violence;
  • Elizabeth Nyamayaro founder of the HeforShe gender equality movement;
  • Greta Thunberg kicked off a worldwide revolution against climate change by herself with one sign at age 15!;
  • Consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren became a U.S. Senator (D-MA);
  • Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood;
  • Morris Dees, co-founder of the Southern Poverty Law Center;
  • Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of the Special Olympics.

Conscious Corporations: Surfrider Foundation, The Be Kind Project, TOMS

UNDERCOVER

Indigos love a good mission. System busting is our forte. Nothing would bring us more pleasure than taking down a corrupt person, organization, or industry.

Of course the thought of working for a big bank, pharmaceutical company, a public official, or a corporation like Monsanto/Bayer seems repulsive but just imagine being the one that destroys it from the inside.

Be the Trojan Horse.

Unfortunately, corruption is so rampant you don't even need to work for a well known violator. You can take down the little guys too.

Do your research, become an investigative journalist, write, film, make a documentary exposing corruption, make Youtube videos to shed light on what people try so hard to keep in the dark.

We are so over greed, hypocrisy, and corruption. Do what's right!

Examples:

  • Edward Snowden, Reality Winner, Chelsea Manning
  • Dr. Hanna-Attisha made national news headlines for her efforts to expose the Flint Water Crisis after her research showed increased blood-lead levels in children even though officials were saying the water is fine.

REFORMERS

Indigos are experts at breaking down inefficiency. They can see clearly how things can be done better. Become the better version of what you hate. In other words, become the change you wish to see in the world

If you hate the way cops treat people, become a cop and set a new example. If you had shitty teachers, teach the way you would have learned better. If you had coaches that were assholes, be the coach you wish you had.

If you hate doctors that throw drugs at you after two minutes of talking to you, be the doctor that you want to have. If you hate the direction of television, write the show you want to watch.

You get the picture.

Consider getting into the field that has caused you the most trauma and reform it. Your very presence will have a domino effect.

NATURE GAURADIANS

The National Parks, The National Ocean Service, The National Wildlife Federation, The National Resources Conservation Service, The Rainforest Action Network, The Sierra Club, Coral Reef Alliance, Greenpeace, Center for Biological Diversity, The Humane Society and countless more organizations all need people to help protect the Earth, its water, trees, animals, and food sources from unconscious humans and corporations.

CREATORS

Indigos are creative. Ideas and images constantly course through us and require an outlet and release. We have an innate talent for music, art, writing, and/or acting.

Indigos would rather be "starving artists" doing what they love rather than having the perceived security that comes with doing something mediocre that they hate.

Sell your art or photos online. Start a blog. Write a screenplay. Get your music on Youtube. Go on an audition.

Take a chance. Just start somewhere! Stop thinking about "making it" and instead think about what you enjoy doing. Do what you like to do because you like to do it. You can get paid for doing what you love.

Everything that keeps you from achieving something is merely an idea. Be mindful of limiting thoughts and social conditioning. If you have a fear of failure then you're going to keep creating it. Leave room for the unexpected. Don't give up on your dreams.

Other successful people in your chosen field are proof that you can be successful too. Believe in yourself. Optimism produces the very success it desires and expects.

HEALERS

Full mind, body, spirit health is of great importance.

Indigo's intuitiveness and desire to help people make us natural healers. Alternative therapies such as Acupuncture, Aromatherapy, Chakra Balancing, Herbalist, Hypnotherapist, Neuro Emotional Technique, Reiki, and Theta Healing are just a few examples of natural healing modalities providing people with much needed relief.

Some of these techniques are being integrated with traditional practices such as chiropractic care, dentistry, and massage therapy. Each technique is unique to its practitioner so try what you are drawn to. Or develop your own healing modality tailored to your own particular strengths and abilities.

RENEGADES

Do something unheard of and follow your bliss and see where it takes you. Act on your highest excitement at any given moment.

Choosing a job isn't a life sentence anymore like it was for the generations before us. There is no job security anymore. Maybe you'll do a little of this and a little of that and then something else. Indigos are Jack of all trades, masters of none.

Follow your calling.

Don't do what you're told to do. Don't do what you should do. Don't settle. Don't live to survive and get by. You can thrive!

JUST BE YOURSELF

Get paid for being you. Be who you are and what you want will follow.

I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona watching the great Round Mound of Rebound, Charles Barkley, play for the Phoenix Suns. Whether he knows it or not, Charles is an Indigo. Many of the great outspoken sports figures are.

For the last 20 years Charles has worked only 1 day a week from October to May. He gets paid to do what he would be doing anyways - watching basketball. He doesn't take the job, himself, or anything else very seriously. He could care less what anybody thinks about him. He is 100% himself at all times. He couldn't be any other way.

I am convinced there is literally no other job in the world he could do and be successful. It's like this job was made just for him and he is paid very well just to be himself.

No one else can be Charles Barkley.

What can you be that no one else can be? What job could be created just for you?

How can we get paid for being ourselves? First, we have to stop pretending. You have to be you. You can't contort yourself to fit other's expectations of what's normal. How much of your energy is going towards mimicking other people we consider successful? How much of your energy is trying to get approval or validation from others? How is that working for you?

You don't have to do that. There are too many carbon copies of people out there already. Just be yourself. We have to put ourselves out there and show the world who we really are. Then see what happens. Maybe then instead of looking for a job - a job will find you.
